Dark
 
[englisch, dɑːk; wörtlich »dunkel, düster«], Mitte der Neunzigerjahre in Großbritannien aufgekommene Variante des Jungle genannten Techno-Stils (Jungletechno), bei der das Klangbild durch Science-Fiction-Effekte, Samples aus Horrorfilmen und insgesamt düstere Töne gekennzeichnet ist. Inzwischen als Bezeichnung auch auf andere Spielarten des Techno übertragen, sofern im Klangbild durch vergleichbare Effekte ausgewiesen.

[dɑːk], Eleanor, geborene O'Reilly [əʊ'raɪlɪ], Pseudonym Patricia O'Rane [əʊ'reɪn], australische Schriftstellerin, * Burwood (bei Sydney) 26. 8. 1901, ✝ Katoomba (Sydney) 11. 9. 1985; ihr Romanwerk, aus dem die auf sorgfältigem Quellenstudium beruhende historische Trilogie »The timeless land« (1941; deutsch »Der erste Gouverneur«), »Storm of time« (1948) und »No barrier« (1953) 1980 verfilmt wurde, offenbart ihren Respekt vor der Ureinwohnerkultur sowie ihren Blick für die zerstörerische Wirkung der westlichen Zivilisation.
